One of Wellington’s essential artistic precincts, Upper Cuba Street, that has launched bands, housed rehearsals, recorded albums, and provided exhibition and studio space, is now facing the prospect of demolition to make way for a new bypass.

The heritage of Eelman bands is strongly linked with Plan 9 – one of the buildings that is being threatened by the motorway demolition ball, along with THistle Hall site of the first Rodents gig.

EELMAN Records believes that the benefits of the motorway are far outweighed by what the artists and community of Wellington would lose if it goes through.
